Harnessing the wind

Blown-down trees, rain and lightning made the Viking's
first Hudson Cove Yacht Club race off Haverstraw, N.Y.,
seem might unlikely. Yet weather cleared by the start of
the weekly Wednesday race so the newly refurbished J-27
sailboat was off and running with Paul Nahodyl heading
up the crew with a new member, Mourad Fam. So what
if this was his first ever sailing experience. He brought us
luck. Despite returning to restart because we apparently
jumped the starting line we managed to be first across the
finish in our C1 class.
